Scientific Working Group for Forensic Toxicology [SWGTOX] Law and Legal Definition
The Scientific Working Group for Forensic Toxicology [SWGTOX] is an organization established to develop and disseminate consensus standards for the practice of forensic toxicology. The SWGTOX activities concerns toxicological matters related to the law including, post-mortem toxicology, human performance toxicology, and workplace drug testing.
The SWGTOX mission is to:
a. establish minimum standards;
b. establish practice and protocols;
c. establish quality assurance and quality control;
d. provide education and training requirements;
e. accreditation and certification;
f. establish a uniform Code of Professional Practice;
g. identify areas of research and development needs in the field of forensic toxicology; and
h. promote public awareness.
