Seat Belt Law and Legal Definition
According to 23 USCS § 157 [Title 23 Highways; Chapter 1 Federal-Aid Highways] seat belt means:
- "with respect to an open-body passenger motor vehicle, including a convertible, an occupant restraint system consisting of a lap belt or a lap belt and a detachable shoulder belt; and
- with respect to any other passenger motor vehicle, an occupant restraint system consisting of integrated lap and shoulder belts."
