Service charges are extra levies on services of various providers. Service charges may be added to a basic real estate tax for services such as garbage disposal, leaf pickup, and water or sewer service. Other examples of services charges include those charged by travel agencies for booking travel arrangements and those charged by banks for different types of accounts or transactions.
