Signature Evidence Law and Legal Definition
Signature evidence refers to an evidence of a person's prior bad acts. Signature evidence is ordinarily inadmissible. However, it will be admissible if it shows, for example, that two crimes were committed through the same planning, design, scheme, or modus operandi, and in such a way that the prior act and the current act are uniquely identifiable as those of the defendant.
