Single Stock Future Law and Legal Definition
Single stock future is a futures contract on a single stock. It is a futures contract with an underlying of one particular stock, usually in batches of 100. For a single stock future, no transmission of share rights or dividends occurs. Single stock futures were illegal in the U.S. prior to the passage of the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000.
