Special Education Programs and Services Law and Legal Definition
Special education programs and services refer to educational and training services designed for students with disabilities. Special education programs and services are operated by local school districts, local act school districts, intermediate school districts, the state schools for the deaf and blind, the department of community health, the department of human services, or a combination of these institutions. Ancillary professional services for students with a disability are rendered by agencies approved by the state board. The programs include vocational training. However, the program does not include academic programs of college or university level.[MCLS § 380.6]
