Special Information Booklet [Banks & Banking] Law and Legal Definition
Pursuant to 12 USCS § 3500.2 [Title 12. Banks and Banking; Chapter 27. Real Estate Settlement Procedures; Regulation X (24 CFR Part 3500)--Real Estate Settlement Procedures], the term special information booklet means “the booklet prepared by the Secretary pursuant to section 5 of RESPA (Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act of 1974) (12 U.S.C. 2604) to help persons understand the nature and costs of settlement services. The Secretary publishes the form of the special information booklet in the Federal Register. The Secretary may issue or approve additional booklets or alternative booklets by publication of a Notice in the Federal Register.”
