Special Milk Program [SMP] Law and Legal Definition
The Special Milk Program (SMP) is a federally funded program that provides reimbursement for milk served by schools, camps, and child care institutions that have no other federal Child Nutrition Program.
The Special Milk Program provides milk to children in schools and childcare institutions who do not participate in other Federal meal service programs. Participating schools and institutions receive reimbursement from the USDA for each half pint of milk served. They must operate their milk programs on a non-profit basis.
