Special Purpose Local Government Law and Legal Definition
According to 36 CFR 72.3 [Title 36 -- Parks, Forests, and Public Property; Chapter I -- National Park Service, Department of the Interior; Part 72 -- Urban Park and Recreation Recovery Act of 1978; Subpart A – General], Special Purpose Local Government means “any local or regional special district, public-purpose corporation or other limited political subdivision of a State: including but not limited to, park authorities; park, conservation, water or sanitary districts; and school districts.
