Specialty occupation visa is more commonly and officially known as H-1B visa. H-1B visas are intended for persons in a specialty occupation, which requires the theoretical and practical application of knowledge obtained with the completion of a specific course of higher education. The Immigration and Nationality Act, section 101(a)(15)(H), allows U.S. employers to temporarily employ foreign workers in specialty occupations.
