Standard Design Certification [Energy] Law and Legal Definition
According to 10 CFR 52.1 (a) [Title 10 – Energy; Chapter I -- Nuclear Regulatory Commission; Part 52 -- Licenses, Certifications, and Approvals for Nuclear Power Plants; General Provisions], the term standard design certification or design certification means “a Nuclear Regulatory Commission approval, issued under subpart B of this part (10 CFR 52), of a final standard design for a nuclear power facility. This design may be referred to as a certified standard design.”
