State Median Income Law and Legal Definition
According to 42 USCS § 8622 [Title 42. The Public Health and Welfare; Chapter 94. Low-Income Energy Assistance; Low-Income Home Energy Assistance], The term "State median income" means the State median income promulgated by the Secretary in accordance with procedures established under section 2002(a)(6) of the Social Security Act [42 USCS § 1397a(a)(6)] (as such procedures were in effect on the day before the date of the enactment of this Act [enacted Aug. 13, 1981]) and adjusted, in accordance with regulations prescribed by the Secretary, to take into account the number of individuals in the household.
