Statutory Declaration Law and Legal Definition
Statutory declaration is a declaration made by a deponent which s/he is required to do by a statute. It is assertion of knowledge of a circumstance, event or fact made in a prescribed manner. It may be before a Commissioner of oaths, Justice Of Peace, or a Notary Public. It is similar to an affidavit. But it is usually made in extra judicial proceedings.
