Strappado Law and Legal Definition
Strappado is a form of punishment or torture in which the hands are tied behind the victim’s back and the victim is lifted off the ground by a rope tied to their wrists and then letting him drop with an ensuing painful jerk. Weights may be added to the body to intensify the effect and increase the pain. The apparatus employed in this method of torture is also termed as strappado.
