Successive Assignees Law and Legal Definition
Successive assignees are persons who have acquired the same claim by a succession of assignments, one assignee assigning to another, the latter to still another, etc.
As between successive assignees in good faith and for value of a chose in action, the mere fact that the second assignee acquired title as a purchaser at an execution sale against a co-owner originally entitled to the share of the fund, does not of itself entitle him to priority over a prior assignee who took by an assignment directly from such co-owner. [Widenmann v. Weniger, 164 Cal. 667 (Cal. 1913)].
