Successor executor or trustee refers to an alternate person named in a Will or Trust who becomes the executor or trustee in the event that the person named initially fails or refuses to act in such capacity. Usually several persons are named in a particular order to act in the event that the preceding person cannot or will not act. In case there is no executor or trustee available, the court will appoint someone to administer the estate.
