Suicide Watch Law and Legal Definition
Suicide watch is an intensive monitoring process used to ensure that an individual does not commit suicide. Generally, the term is used in reference to inmates in a prison. Special attention is paid to a prisoner to ensure that the prisoner does not commit suicide. Individuals are placed on suicide watch when it is believed there is a good chance they will attempt to cause bodily harm to themselves. Suicide watches are often placed on death row inmates several days before execution.
