According to 34 CFR 647.7 (b) [Title 34 – Education; Subtitle B -- Regulations of the Offices of the Department of Education; Chapter VI -- Office of Postsecondary Education, Department of Education; Part 647 -- Ronald E. Mcnair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program; Subpart A – General], the term summer internship means “an educational experience in which participants, under the guidance and direction of experienced faculty researchers, are provided an opportunity to engage in research or other scholarly activities.”
