According to 49 CFR 192.3 [Title 49 – Transportation; Subtitle B Other Regulations Relating to Transportation; Chapter I Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, Department of Transportation; Subchapter D Pipeline Safety; Part 192 Transportation of Natural and Other Gas by Pipeline: Minimum Federal Safety Standards; Subpart A – General], Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system means “a computer-based system or systems used by a controller in a control room that collects and displays information about a pipeline facility and may have the ability to send commands back to the pipeline facility.”
