Sweep Account Law and Legal Definition
Sweep account refers to a brokerage or bank account whose cash balance is automatically transferred into an interest-bearing investment, such as a money market fund. Interest on surplus cash can be earned through sweep accounts. At the end of each business day, a sweep account would transfer excess funds into an interest-bearing account. It can earn interest overnight, and make the funds available the next day.
