Umbrella School Law and Legal Definition
A non-traditional school serving to oversee the homeschooling of children is an umbrella school. The purpose is to comply with the educational requirements set out by the government. The cost of and offerings in umbrella schools differ. Most of the umbrella schools offer a definite curriculum, sports, trips, and standardized testing. Some schools give the parents freedom to choose between methods of teaching and curriculum. Umbrella schools works in the same manner as an independent school.
