Unauthorized Commitment Law and Legal Definition
An unauthorized commitment is an agreement that is not binding because the government representative who made does not possess the authority to enter into that agreement on behalf of the government. Contracts can be entered into and signed on behalf of the government solely by warranted contracting officers. Such contracts will bind the government to the extent of the written authority delegated to such personnel.
