Underrepresented in Science and Engineering [Education] Law and Legal Definition
According to 34 CFR 637.4 [Title 34 – Education; Subtitle B -- Regulations of the Offices of the Department of Education; Chapter VI -- Office of Postsecondary Education, Department of Education; Part 637 -- Minority Science and Engineering Improvement Program; Subpart A – General], the term underrepresented in science and engineering means “a minority group whose number of scientists and engineers per 10,000 population of that group is substantially below the comparable figure for scientists and engineers who are white and not of Hispanic origin.”
