Unfree labour is a term used to refer to those work relations, especially in modern or early modern history, where people are employed against their will by threatening them of destitution, detention, violence or other extreme hardship. Various forms of unfree labour are slavery, bonded labour, penal labor which includes prison labor and labour camps, truck system, serfs and conscription.
