Uniform Foreign Money Judgments Recognition Act of 1962 Law and Legal Definition
In 1962, the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Law promulgated the Uniform Foreign Money-Judgments Recognition Act. It is a companion to the 1948 (amended in 1962) Uniform Enforcement of Foreign Judgments Act. In spite of the similarities in titles, these acts deal with quite different problems of judgment enforcement. This act simplifies international business by recognizing money judgments obtained in other nations. This act was superseded by the Uniform Foreign-Country Money Judgments Recognition Act, 2005. The 1962 Uniform Foreign Money-Judgments Recognition act has been enacted in 32 states.
