Uniform Mandatory Disposition of Detainers Act Law and Legal Definition
The Uniform Mandatory Disposition of Detainers Act is one of the uniform acts prepared and sponsored by the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws. This act provides for a prompt disposition of detainers by providing that prosecuting officials, upon the request of a prisoner, must move forward with trial on the charge or such charge will be dismissed. However, this act is now regarded by the National Conference of Commissioners as a model act, instead of a uniform act. So it may be known as the Model Mandatory Disposition of Detainers Act. It has adopted by states like Kansas , Colorado etc.
