Unit of General Purpose Local Government Law and Legal Definition
According to 42 USCS § 3022 [Title 42. The Public Health and Welfare; Chapter 35. Programs for Older Americans; Grants for State and Community Programs on Aging; General Provisions], the term "unit of general purpose local government" means-
"(A) a political subdivision of the State whose authority is general and not limited to only one function or combination of related functions; or
(B) an Indian tribal organization."
