United States Department of Health and Human Services Law and Legal Definition
The United States Department of Health and Human Services is a principal agency to the U.S. government. The aim of the department is to protect the health of all Americans and to provide essential human services. The department is also called the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare.
The department is headed by the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services. The department mainly has two operating divisions:
1. the Human Services; and
2. the Public Health Service Operating Divisions.
