United States Foreign Trade Law and Legal Definition
According to 46 USCS § 53501 [Title 46. Shipping; Subtitle V. Merchant Marine; Part C. Financial Assistance Programs; Chapter 535. Capital Construction Funds], United States foreign trade includes those areas in domestic trade in which a vessel built with a construction-differential subsidy is allowed to operate under the first sentence of section 506 of the Merchant Marine Act, 1936.
