United States Senate Committee on Appropriations Law and Legal Definition
The U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations is a standing committee of the U.S. Senate having jurisdiction over all discretionary spending legislation in the Senate. It is one of the most powerful committees in the Senate. The U.S. Constitution requires the committee to make appropriations made by law prior to the expenditure of any money from the Treasury.
