Unius Omnino Testis Responsio Non Audiatur Law and Legal Definition

Unius omnino testis responsio non audiatur means the answer of a single witness shall not be heard at all. It is a maxim of the civil law. When the testimony is of a single witness law need not admit the same at any circumstances.

The evidence of a single witness is half proof, to be supplemented, in default of a second witness, by torture or by reference to oath.
