Unsafe Working Conditions Law and Legal Definition
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) oversees enforcement of workplace safety regulations for the federal government. These safety standards are meant to reduce the likelihood of workplace illnesses or injuries. Compliance with them is mandatory.
Following is a federal statute that deals with reports of unsafe working conditions.
According to 33 CFR 142.7, any person can report any hazardous or unsafe working condition on any unit engaged in OCS activities to an Officer in Charge, Marine Inspection. After reviewing the report and conducting any necessary investigation, the Officer in Charge notifies the owner or operator of any deficiency or hazard and initiates enforcement measures as the circumstances warrant.
