Uxor Law and Legal Definition
Uxor is a Latin word which means wife in English. Uxor is abbreviated as ux., and is often used in the form ‘et uxor’ or ‘et ux’. ‘et ux’ means "and wife." For example, many old property deeds list the owners in the form "Mr Doe et ux." The usage stems from a time when a wife was considered a mere legal appendage of a man and not worthy of being named.
