Verbal act refers to an act performed through the medium of words. It can be spoken or written.
In the context of evidence laws, it is a statement offered to prove the words themselves because of their legal effect. It is taken as direct evidence and such a statement is not considered as hearsay. For example, the offer of drugs for sale was admissible as a verbal act.
