Voluntary Public Access and Habitat Incentive Program Law and Legal Definition
Voluntary Public Access and Habitat Incentive Program is a federal initiative established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for providing grants or funds to state and tribal governments. The program encourages owners and operators of privately held farm, ranch, and forest land to voluntarily make that land available for public access for the purpose of wildlife-dependent recreation. The program also facilitates converting private land for the purpose of hunting and fishing. These activities are administered by both state and tribal governments. According to 7 CFR 1455.10, a state or tribal government may apply for the grants provided by this program. But any application received by an individual or entity that is not a state or tribal government will not be considered. The program will also not provide grant if an application is not accepted by the Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC).
