Waiting Period [Unemployment Insurance] Law and Legal Definition
Under unemployment insurance, a week of unemployment for which a claimant employee does not receive any compensation, however that employee can acquire the same eligibility requirements necessary to qualify for receipt of compensation for subsequent weeks of unemployment during the benefit year. In some States, the waiting period is compensable after specified periods of unemployment.
