Wardriving Law and Legal Definition
Wardriving refers to the act of driving around in a vehicle with a laptop computer, an antenna, and an 802.11 wireless LAN adapter for exploiting existing wireless networks. The wireless adapter can receive packets within its range if set on promiscuous mode. Wardriving exploits wireless networks having ranges extending outside the perimeter of buildings for gaining free internet access or illegal access to organization’s data. Use of WPA encryption standard can be used as a safeguard against wardriving.
