Waterway Suitability Assessment Law and Legal Definition
According to 18 CFR 153.2 [Title 18 -- Conservation of Power and Water Resources; Chapter I -- Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Department of Energy; Subchapter E -- Regulations Under Natural Gas Act; Part 153 -- Applications for Authorization to Construct, Operate, or Modify Facilities Used for the Export or Import of Natural Gas], Waterway Suitability Assessment _WSA_ means a document used by the U.S. Coast Guard in assessing the suitability of a waterway for LNG marine traffic. The Preliminary WSA initiates the process of analyzing the safety and security risks posed by proposed LNG tanker operations to a port and waterways, and the Follow-On WSA provides a detailed analysis of the same issues.
