Weekend Sentence Law and Legal Definition
An intermittent term is often referred to as a "week-end" sentence. It is a variation of a definite term with service of sentence permitted during specified intermittent weekends. [People ex rel. Johnson v. Batista, 167 Misc. 2d 252, 253 (N.Y. Misc. 1995). It may be simply described as intermittent sentence served on weekends. In an intermittent sentence, periods of confinements are interrupted by periods of freedom.
