Wife’s Settlement Law and Legal Definition
Wife’s settlement is the equitable right of a wife that arises when her husband sues in equity for the reduction of her equitable estate to his own possession. Under such an equitable right the wife can have all or part of that estate settled in her or her children’s favor.
Wife’s settlement is also termed equity to a settlement or wife’s equity.
