Wireline Competition Bureau [Federal Communications Commission] Law and Legal Definition
The Wireline Competition Bureau is one among the seven operating bureaus of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The bureau develops and recommends policy goals, objectives, programs and plans for the Commission on matters concerning wireline telecommunications.
The Wireline Competition Bureau aims to:
a. ensure choice, opportunity, and fairness in the development of wireline telecommunications services and markets;
b. develop deregulatory initiatives;
c. promote economically efficient investment in wireline telecommunications infrastructure;
d. promoting the development and widespread availability of wireline telecommunications services; and
e. foster economic growth.
