Witness Impeachment Law and Legal Definition
Witness impeachment is the process of challenging the credibility of a witness in a trial. There are several ways by which a witness can properly be impeached. A witness can be impeached by introducing evidence of bias, inconsistent and contradictory statement, dishonesty of witness, and mental disability. In U.S. under the Federal Rules of Evidence, any party can attack the credibility of any witness.
