Work Permit Law and Legal Definition
Work permit means a legal authorization issued to an alien from the Immigration and Naturalization Service, allowing the aliens to work legally in a country. It gives necessary information required for employment of certain people in certain countries. With a work permit an alien is allowed to work for a stated period of time in a foreign country. It is also referred to as work visa, or working papers.
Pursuant to 8 USCS § 1324a (1), it is unlawful for a person or other entity to hire, or to recruit or refer for a fee, for employment in the U.S. an alien knowing the alien is an unauthorized alien with respect to such employment.
