Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) Law and Legal Definition
Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) is a labor union formed by the writers of television and film, and employees of television and radio news. It is affiliated to American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organization (AFL-CIO). The WGAE has bargained for writers in movies, TV, and radio, since 1954. Writers working in motion pictures, TV, and radio would be represented by this guild.
Writers Guild of America, East is also affiliated with the Writers Guild of America, West. The Writers Guild of America, East and West together administer the Writers Guild of America Awards. It is also an affiliate of the International Federation of Journalists and the International Affiliation of Writers Guilds.
