Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) is a labor union that represent entertainment writers in the U.S. It represents the members in the negotiation and enforcement of contracts with producers. The writers guild supports writers in the areas of screen, television, and news media. It was named Writers Guild of America, West in 1954 succeeding the Screen Writers Guild. It has thousands of writers as its members.
