Written Order to Search Law and Legal Definition
Written order to search refers to an order issued by a statutory authority to search a person or premise. A superior police officer may by a written order signed by him, give a constable the authority to enter the premises specified to search the premises and any person found there, and to seize and retain any relevant material which is found, when there are reasonable grounds for believing that there is material on premises which is likely to be of substantial value for investigation. An order can only be made if the officer has reasonable grounds to believe that the case is one of great emergency, and that immediate action is necessary.
