Wrongful Adoption Law and Legal Definition
Wrongful Adoption is an adoption that is claimed would not have taken place had the adopting parents been properly informed of certain significant information. Those arranging the adoption at the time generally know such information, but which was not disclosed to the adoptive parents. This withheld or undisclosed information can include a variety of things, such as serious physical, emotional or psychological defects or deficiencies. Generally, lawsuits are brought against agencies for intentionally misrepresenting, deliberately concealing, or negligently disclosing a child's background information to adoptive parents.
