According to 34 CFR 654.5 (b) [Title 34 – Education; Subtitle B -- Regulations of the Offices of the Department of Education; Chapter VI -- Office of Postsecondary Education, Department of Education; Part 654 -- Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program; Subpart A – General], the term year of study means “the period of time during which a full-time student at an institution of higher education is expected to complete the equivalent of one year of course work, as defined by the institution.”
