Yeomanry Law and Legal Definition
Yeomanry is the designation used for collected body of yeomen. Yeoman refers to attendant, servant, or lesser official in a royal or noble household. It can also be diligent, dependable worker or a farmer. The term yeomanry also refers to the designation given to the British volunteer cavalry regiments organized in 1761 to serve as a home guard. Since these British volunteer cavalry regiments are incorporated into the Territorial Army a number of units or sub-units of the British Territorial Army is also designated as yeomanry.
