Ibid. Law & Legal Definition

Ibid. is an abbreviation of the Latin term ibidem, meaning "in the same place; in the same book; on the same page." It is also abreviated as id. The term is often used in citing a case in support of arguments made in a legal brief.

Ibid is used as a citation or reference for a source that was cited in the preceding citation, endnote, or footnote. To find the Ibid source, one has to look at the reference right before it.
